Gently-used books, CDs, and DVDs are given to the Friends through two main sources: the public and the LPL. The public may donate gently-used books, CDs, and DVDs by dropping them off at the back door (off the parking lot) of the Main Branch and at the Customer Services Counter at the Crossings Branch. All public donations must be dropped off during working hours, Monday through Friday. On a regular basis, the Library donates deselected books, CDs, and DVDs to the Friends. All books received by Booktique Volunteers are assessed for condition prior to being placed on our shelves.
It has become necessary to create a few criteria, outlining what items are acceptable through public donations. Books, CDS, and DVDs need to be in good condition and published within the past ten years. The Library no longer accepts the following items: magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, or National Geographic magazines. In turn, the Library donates to the Friends those items not essential to the Library collections.
